How To Properly Catalyze Two-Component Coatings | Benjamin Moore®

Benjamin Moore High Performance epoxies and urethanes are two-component coatings. This video demonstrates how to properly catalyze these products for application. Gather your materials: the two-component product, a rag, stir sticks, a measuring container, a drill with paddle mixer, and a paint can opener. Mix each component thoroughly, then combine contents into one container (or a separate container if needed). Blend for 3–5 minutes at low speed, ensuring the paddle is fully immersed and sides are scraped. If thinning is required, add the recommended thinner and mix for another 3–5 minutes. Once fully mixed, the product is ready for use unless induction time is specified. Refer to manufacturer instructions and mix for one minute after induction. Visit your locally owned Benjamin Moore store for expert tips on any High-Performance Coating and tackle your next project with speed and confidence.

How to Choose the Right Paint

A premium paint offers smoother, more uniform appearance as well as better coverage. Although premium paint may cost more, it maintains its durability longer, so your home doesn't require frequent repainting. In this video, Cole Schaefer, a professional painter, shares the differences between the different grades of paint and why using premium paint can truly transform a home's appearance and provide a durable finish that lasts. The quality of the paint depends upon the type and amount of ingredients used to make it. These ingredients are combined to provide different levels of application and performance properties. So what goes into a can of paint? All paints have four basic ingredients, pigment, binders, liquid, and additives. Pigment provides color coverage and gloss control binders find the pigment together and provide film integrity, and adhesion to a surface liquid, also known as the solvent, provides desired consistency and makes it possible to apply the pigment and binders to the surface. Additives are ingredients that provide specific paint properties such as mildew resistance and good flow and level. The paint property commonly referred to by professionals as volume solids or simply solids. Solids are a good first step for determining the quality of the paint once you know the solids of a product more research is still needed to identify specific properties of paint you can find some of this information on product literature labels or technical datasheets. When you buy a gallon of paint, you're essentially paying for the solids portion of that gallon, the solids are the binders and pigments that adhere to the wall and remain after the paint dries. For most of us, our home is the single largest purchase we will ever make in our lifetime. So how do we choose to protect that investment? We'll cover it with paint no thicker than the sheet of paper and expect that paint to withstand the constant rigors of indoor and outdoor use for five to ten years. Now be sure to consider using a premium product every time you paint. More "how to paint" information may be found at https://www.dunnedwards.com/

The Sherwin Williams 2026 Color Forecast: My Honest Thoughts

Sherwin Williams just released their 2026 Colormix Forecast: Anthology Volume 2 — and this time, they gave us not one, not two, but *four entire color palettes* to work with: Frosted Tints, Sunbaked Hues, Restorative Darks, and Foundational Neutrals. But are they trendsetting or just throwing paint at the wall to see what sticks? In this video, I’ll walk through each palette, what makes them unique, where I think they shine, and where I think they fall flat. Then I’ll rank all four based on style, practicality, and color harmony. Spoiler: there’s one palette I’d use in almost any space… and one that honestly stressed me out a bit.
